The end of another year draws near and time is nigh to recap on the activities of Rearcross FC during the past 12 months or so. On the playing front, Rearcross ‘A’ competed in the First Division while Rearcross ‘B’ played out a long league campaign which included 22 league games. At Underage level, we fielded teams at
U-13, U-12, U-10 and U-8 age categories.
The Christmas festivities kicked off with our annual Underage Disco which took place in the Clubhouse on the 17th December, a great evening was had by all. Thanks to all who supported the Movember Fundraiser, the proceeds of €4,813.93 were donated to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Our annual Bag Packing Fundraiser took place at the end of January in Dunne’s Stores, Parkway Shopping Centre, thanks all volunteers for making the event another success. Rearcross National School participated in the FAI Primary Schools competition in Newhill Park at the beginning of April, our thanks to Rearcross National School for facilitating participation in this event. Rearcross FC Grounds hosted the Joe Delaney Cup final on the 22nd May where BT Harps defeated Nenagh AFC.
Our 5th Annual Community Day took place on Sunday 14th June, the event proved to be an enjoyable and financial success once again. The activities commenced with a Loop Walk, next up was the Slieve Felim Community Cycle, other events on the day included Piglet Racing, Churn Racing, Calf Raffle, Bubble Soccer Competition, Penalty Competition, Bouncy Castles, Cake Sale, Gala raffle, Commodity Auction, Face Painting, Donkey Cart / Pony Rides, Guess Who competition, Go Karting, Irish Music & Dancing Exhibition. Thanks to all participants, volunteers, sponsors and donors for making the event a success and finally our thanks to those who attended in large numbers on the day. The Club received funding of €1,500 from the Airtricity Community Fund on the 19th June towards the upgrade of the Clubhouse heating system.  Congratulations to 2014/2015 Player of the Year recipients Eamonn Wade who won the A team Player of the Year award and ‘B’ team Player of the Year Kieran Devitt. Week commencing 17th August saw the Club host our 15th Annual FAI Summer School, thanks to all participants for making the event a success. We hosted a Child Protection Course on the 23rd September which was well attended. Good news was received on the 8th October that the Club had been allocated €14,000 from the 2015 Sports Capital Programme towards the installation of a Floodlit Walking / Jogging Track around the perimeter of the pitch. The season to date sees Rearcross ‘A’ and Rearcross ‘B’ competing in the First and Third Division respectively, while at Underage level we are fielding teams at U-14, U-12, U-10 & U-8 levels. The Club’s All Weather Playing Area continues to be a valuable amenity for young and old, our Gymnasium is opened Monday to Friday from 7:00PM to 9:30PM with Ladies only slot from 7:00PM to 8:30PM, nightly membership rates available. Club income from Bilboa Lotto ticket sales remains a key source of income for the Club, we express our gratitude once again to the general public for their ongoing support, thanks to the business outlets where tickets are sold on a weekly basis and also to Kennedy’s Shop for their assistance with ticket distribution.
